9/11: Blueprint for Truth – The Architecture of Destruction

Truth Action Ottawa is pleased to announce that we are sponsoring a speaking engagement by Mr. Richard Gage, AIA, at Carleton University on April 30, 2010. Mr. Gage has over 20 years experience as a professional architect, and is the founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, an organization which now boasts over 1100 professional architects and engineers calling for a new investigation of the three World Trade Center collapses on 9/11.

Hey everyone,

You are all invited to a dinner friday with our bay and Karen’s after our exam (around 5 or 6).

It will be at a restaurant in the market, I’ve been before and its very nice and cheap, great food.

Please let everyone know since I don’t have everyone’s number and R.S.V.P. because I have to make reservations.

Noel Kerns – illuminated architecture

Noel Kerns is a Dallas photographer who risks life and limb finding derelict structures, crawling inside, illuminating them with small gelled lights and photographing them. The images that result have a stillness that says something about decay and the passage of time, but (thanks to the long exposures he often uses) a hint of life in the streaking contrails of stars and headlights flashing past on nearby interstates. They’re unsettling, and very beautiful. (Flickr)

Stepping Back

I’m sure all of you are contemplating all the comments given from the crits yesterday.
As you back track through all your ideas, it is a good idea to go back to the basics: What are the experiential qualities of my design?

I suggest taking a break from studio, sit outside in the nice weather, and read through An Architecture of the Seven Senses by Juhani Pallasmaa.
It is not long, and you can definitely finish it in one afternoon.
His text is a good way of revisiting how each sense informs architecture, which is the focus of most, if not all, of your projects.
You can then use it to carefully structure your arguments for your final presentation.
